HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Here we are – It’s 1am on January 1, 2019! WE MADE IT!! It seems like many are just thankful to make it through the year, and it has taken a load off to be able to say those words. That the struggles seemed to have been exaserbated in 2018, more than other years for one reason or another. On the flip side, I’ve also been encouraged by so many positive posts of thankfulness for things that happened in 2018, and also seeing posts asking people for positive words for 2019.
This time of year I start the conversations with close friends about my “word for the year” and “2019 Goals” to flesh them out and give them real meat to them. It’s become something that I’ve begun to look forward to and get excited about! In 2019, I want my life to be more purposeful. I want to be purposeful in my spirititual goals, health goals, and emotional goals (you know, just like last year with being Diligent). I’ll write more of what I hope that will look like in a future post – mostly for accountability! Ultimately, “what purpose does X, Y or Z have?”, will be my constant question to myself.
I’ve been really stuck on Hebrews 12 lately, and it just reminds me that to run with purpose, I need to shed some things that I’ve allowed to creep in and overtake parts of my life. Hebrews 12:1 says “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,”. Purging will happen (both on a spiritual level and of actual things), and being purposeful with my time to help me run better will happen.
I don’t want to take up more time or space on this, as I’m sure this is the 100th post on goals and word of year you’ve seen/read. Let me leave you with this – let’s not just wait for 12 months to pass to assess where we’ve been and where we’re going. My goal is to stop in here at least once every three months and chat about being purposeful, and how it’s playing out in my life. Where I’ve made changes, and maybe reassessing some goals that I’m setting. I know I’ve been MIA for a bit, but am planning to be right back here for 2019! I hope you join me for it!
Do you have a word or goals for 2019? How are you planning to kick off your year?
